Roy Gerritsen's Court Date and This American Life

I know we were all looking forward to seeing former Red River Radio General Manager Roy Gerritsen in court today. But it’s just not to be. His case has been continued until 9:30 a.m. March 27, 2007. He’ll appear before Judge Jeff Cox.

Here’s a reminder of the details:

Roy Gerritsen In The Dock
Docket # Charge
------------------------------------------------------------
Docket No. C149466 Attempted carnal knowledge of a juvenile
Docket No. C149467 Computer aided solicitation of a minor

This American Life

In other news, This American Life is now available as a podcast. There’s another hour you don’t have to listen to Red River Radio! I like to listen to it when I run or cycle.

The show’s producers say “We sometimes think of it as a documentary show for people who normally hate documentaries. A public radio show for people who don't necessarily care for public radio.” It can be riveting, and it’s almost always entertaining.

Vegan Pledge Drive

Gah! My day is off to a bad start because I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve felt like I had to puke all night, and I’ve got some acid reflux going on. Whats up with that?

Vegan - The New Ethics Of Eating

Erik Marcus is conducting a pledge drive. Instead of asking for money, though, he’s asking people to commit to hand out Vegan Outreach pamphlets at college campuses. This is something I could do.

Erik recommends handing out “Even If You Like Meat....,” but I also like “Why Vegan?,” “Guide to Cruelty-Free Eating,” and “Try Vegetarian.” Which do you think would get the most positive response? Comments appreciated.

While you are at Erik’s site, don’t forget to get your free copy of “Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating.” It’s a great introduction to being vegan.

ROCK FIGHT!

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Shreveport-Bossier and all the hip bees!

Friday slouches surreptitiously closer, bringing with it another ROCK FIGHT! on KSCL.

There’s some great music this week, including a pair of tunes from the new Arcade Fire album, a bit of prog wankery from King Crimson and Opeth, psychedelia from Secret Machines and Hypatia Lake, and lots more. This week’s show could go in many directions, much like an 8-pointed Chao.

So tune in! KSCL * 91.3 fm * Friday 02/16/07 * 6 to 8

And don’t forget, the phone number is (318) 869-5297.

Here’s your lonely Valentine :
